Instrument-Making Workshops
for Primary Schools and Special Needs Schools

Years 5 and 6

Pupils from one class make an 11 note diatonic Batonka or a Marimba over 3 days. Using a separate
classroom the workshop leader works with a group of 3 pupils on a rotational basis throughout the day.

This is a real opportunity for pupils to develop DT skills as well as the understanding of science and music.
The school benefits from the addition of a new instrument that will be in tune with the school’s existing music
resources
.

“ It was a great experience for the classes that made the instruments and both are still in use three years on.”  Mr Webb, Belmont Junior, London N22

Price £500 for 3 days (incl. materials) for a class.

Years 1 to 4

Younger pupils can make a Metallophone, a Marimba or a set of Mini–Batonkas.  As with years 5 - 6 the
workshop leader works with groups of three or four pupils at a time in a separate classroom for the day.

The school benefits from having a new classroom instruments.

Price per day £200 (incl. materials) for a class

We recommend that a teacher or other adult be present in both these workshops.
