I am passionate about creating access to instruments for children that have few opportunities for making music. By making affordable and robust instruments for school playgrounds these children will be able to explore music and sound. I also have heard children practising music that they have learnt in a recent music class out in the playground. What one child knows will soon transfer to other children as they play together. Prices vary from £350 to £1000 according to which instrument and how many octaves, fixings required etc.
With some of these playground instruments – as at Chilton School – pupils can take part in cutting and tuning the keys for a playground or class instrument in an Instrument Making Workshop
